ICNS, Where Parents Can Stay, for their Child’s Educational & Creative Play!
InterCommunity Nursery School is a not-for-profit cooperative school offering classes to two, three, and four year old children. ICNS provides a nurturing environment for children to begin socialization through creative development, rudimentary educational stimulation, and "old-fashioned" childhood fun.We are located in a lovely neighborhood and serve the children of Lynbrook and the surrounding communities of East Rockaway, Malverne, Oceanside, Hewlett, Woodmere, Rockville Centre and Valley Stream. Our program is operated by the parents of our proud school community.
**A Message from our Director**
Are you looking for a preschool with warm, nurturing, knowledgeable certified teachers who:
* provide for active learning through hands on experience in an environment of exploration, problem solving and developmentally appropriate experiences?
* provide for language growth, planting and cooking, awareness of cultures, literacy, fine and gross motor activities, self expression, predicting outcomes, basic concepts of math and art experiences, all within an integrated curriculum?
* provide freedom within a structured setting?
* support and encourage children to make choices & to try new things?
* foster a sense of independence and self discipline?
* allow children time to develop?
* afford honest recognition and praise?
* model respect for everyone?
* recognize youngster’s feelings and accept the children unconditionally – including their right to be different?
* seek cooperation instead of obedience?
Parents, if these goals are in line with what you want for your child, we welcome you to our cooperative nursery school! Come and participate in our child oriented, intellectually stimulating environment, where both parent and child engage in a rich experience. In our safe setting, along with the guidance of skilled professionals, parents have the opportunity to enhance their parenting skills and learn from each other.
